Muisca
The Muisca race is the basis of the Colombian nation
The Muisca culture represented great socio-political and economic advancements, especially in the area of legislation. They created a wide-reaching cosmogony and a religious structure. They inhabited the placid, rich highlands of Cundinamarca and Boyacá. They were farmers, potters, weavers, notable goldsmiths, and miners of salt and emeralds. Their rites were quite sophisticated. They were victims of the warlike invasion, with its mal-intentioned “errors”, and the central impact of the Spanish conquest. This race is the basis of the Colombian nation, together with the people of the Atlantic Coast.
Tolima
The Tolimas created mythic hybrids with a magical presence.
The Tolima culture developed in the warm valleys of the Saldaña and Coello rivers. Proud and arrogant farmers, the Tolima were also terrible warriors and superb goldsmiths. They created mythic hybrids with a magical presence. The characteristic style of expression is geometric. Their works show their cosmogony and their religion to be a mythic-aesthetic-zoomorphic complex, with a special predilection for bats.
